Ryan Baldwin was raised in Sullivan County, PA and attended Pennsylvania College of Technology leaving just shy of a computer science degree in order to pursue a real estate business. Successful at the early age of 24, he owned over 100 properties worth over ten million dollars. It was short-lived as the 2009 market crash crumbled the business into bankruptcy.
The tough loss led Ryan and his wife in wanting to take some time away from the hustle and focus on helping others. They moved to Ecuador, South America as missionaries for nearly a year and were involved in running an orphanage of 54 children, as well as going out into the Amazon jungle on medical brigades to aid those without care. Caring for children in the orphanage had a large impact on their lives and planted the desire to foster and adopt children upon returning to the U.S.
After returning, they moved to the Austin area, and once settled in, began their foster care classes. Their first call for a foster placement was immediately after they finished their course––and it was for a sibling group of five children. Despite initially not wanting more than two children and no infants, they felt it was necessary to take in these five (one being a 6 month old baby boy), given the circumstances at the time. After an emotional roller coaster of uncertainty for three years in foster care, they were finally able to adopt the children and became a permanent family in November 2019.
The children are doing amazing with a ton of love in the home. Ryan's wife Amanda is a full-time dental hygienist (so you know the kids will have great teeth) and Ryan continues his entrepreneurial ventures with the ownership of various products. In their free time… wait… what free time?
