When Mike graduated high school he worked at a couple of weld shops but he always knew he wanted to help people. He was shortly given the opportunity to do an internship in Brooklyn, New York where they ended up offered him the job. This is where he met his wife! They stayed there for 8 years doing after school programs all around the Bronx. After working in NYC for 8 years his wife and him decided to make a drastic change in their lives and move to Austin, Texas. Mike got a job working with a church doing outreach, food drives, and respite work with immigrants.
Mike then started working at a children's shelter called The Safe Alliance where he started as a Youth Engagement Specialist. After a year he became a manager. Working at a shelter during covid was tough but he really enjoyed his time there.
Mike enjoys spending time with his family and going on day trips to cities around Texas. He also love going to local coffee shops. Having good conversations with his wife and friends is always a highlight of his day. He enjoys spending time with his adopted daughter as she reaches new milestones. She came to Mike and his wife when she was only a month old! "I love being a parent." Being a foster parent Mike was always connected with Austin Angels and now he is a part of the team!
Mike enjoys getting tattoos as they all tell a story. Some of his hobbies include taking photos and making coffee. With his espresso machine at home he enjoys creating different drinks. His goal in life is to one day open up a coffee shop with his wife where they will hire aged out youth. They want to be a support and recourse for children and youth in their local foster care system as well as local shelters.
