Making the trek from the Pacific Northwest to Austin was a clear calling for Sara and her family of rambunctious boys. Sara joined the Spokane Angels board in 2019 where she served for a year, and also participated in the Love Box program. Both experiences fueled a fire to serve children in a greater capacity, ultimately leading to the acceptance of a position with Austin Angels. After over 10 years of running an events company in Spokane, WA, where she worked with several nonprofits and corporations, she knew it was time to shake things up and grow forward. Her husband Sam, also an entrepreneur, welcomed the adventure as both have a heart for children in hard places. Happy to now call Texas "home," Sam and their four sons (Tucker, 8; Max, 5; Grady, 4; and Wilder, 6 months) keep life exciting and full of activity. Together they enjoy exploring Texas hill country, hunting and fishing, riding their bikes, scooters and four-wheeler, and building legos. While Sara might prefer binging a show on Netflix, enjoying local wine tasting, or a day at the spa, she loves every minute of being a boy mom and all the dirt that comes with it! She is a loyal friend, a generous giver, and is constantly pushing herself to be a better leader, sister, and servant of Christ. Sara truly believes that positive and consistent relationships improve quality of life and that the programs implemented by Austin Angels and National Angels will change the way children and families experience foster care, ultimately changing the way our nation cares for children for generations to come.
