Savannah HemnesConnector, dog and cat mom, wife, encourager, reader, avid movie watcher, believer
Likes: journaling, Dr. Pepper, going for walks, time with loved ones, trying new coffee shops, a tasty meal-especially when shared with friends! Dislikes: traffic, seafood, 100+ degree weather, heights, being anywhere but home when it’s raining Savannah was born and raised in Texas. She moved to the Austin area (originally from the Fort Worth area!) in 2018 with her husband, 3 dogs and cat, and has loved calling ATX her home! She studied at Nelson University (formerly Southwestern Assemblies of God University) and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, with a focus in counseling, in 2022. Her focus while in school was learning how to best support others in their current situations, in hopes of helping better prepare them for the days ahead. She knows that every person deserves to be heard, believed in, and supported in life. Savannah strongly believes that understanding the effects of trauma is important for every person to know, and she cherishes an opportunity to discuss this as well as walk alongside those that have experienced trauma. She knows from her own story what a difference this can make in someone’s life. Once she saw the mission and the work that Austin Angels does for children, youth, and families experiencing foster care she knew it would be a great organization to be a part of. She has experience leading volunteers in various roles, and she volunteers each month with children experiencing foster care. Savannah is thrilled to begin her journey with Austin Angels and is excited for the relationships that will be built while working here! Savannah loves to spend time with her husband, friends, and family. She likes to cook and to try new restaurants. She’s a homebody at heart, and loves a good book or movie. Her favorite place to be is at the beach, but Austin is a close second |
